Slovakia - Zakladna skola, Pugacevova 1381/7, Humenné

Our school is located in a quiet place and is surrounded by many trees and the big yard for the afternoon activities.
There are three buildings – in the main building is the school, the afternoon education continues in the second building and the third is the school canteen. The school was founded in 1965 and in last years underwent a complete renovation and is equipped with modern technology. The headmaster of our school is Mgr. Peter Vachula. We have 32 teachers, one specialist teacher and 5 assistants of teachers. We have students whose ages range between 6 and 15. The main building includes 21 classrooms, 2 language laboratories, 2 computer rooms, 6 rooms for the afternoon education and activities and 2 gyms (there is a multifunction playground outside the school). Each classroom is equiped by a data projector, computer which is connected to the internet and some classrooms have the interactive boards, too. One class is equipped with iPods where the students used them throughout the lessons.
Our school teachers and students would like to develop personally and professionally, increase motivation to learn, develop cultural awareness and open-mindedness, enhance self-confidence, gain knowledge in new subjects or in teaching methods, improve language skills, meet new people from all over the world and maybe to gain new friend among the teachers, students and involved families, too.
Our students have a school subject ICT, they learn how to create and edit videos, many other subjects where they need to know it and many eTwinning projects in which we need to use video editing. We separate waste in each class; take care of green parts of our schoolyard (trees, lawns, grass, flowers...); we celebrate World Water Day, talk about Water Pollution, celebrate Earth Day; create posters with many eco topics, visit natur with our students, have lessons outside; our students have a special school subject - Environmental Studies...and many other activities. We organise technological and Science and Arts competition.
Since the school year 2013/2014 we cooperate in many eTwinning projects every year and from year 2015 to year 2017 we were a part of a very beautiful Erasmus+ KA2 project (United through cultural and natural diversity – learning through research). Our school is the eTwinning School 2020-2021.
